2021 SRU *virtual* Professional Development Day

Dr. Carl S. Moore, Assistant Chief Academic Officer at the University of the District of Columbia, will be joining us virtually on Professional Development Day (October 12) to continue our campus dialogue around diversity, equity, and inclusion. Dr. Moore will lead two workshops designed to engage participants in self-reflection and build on the results of that self-reflection to become more effective teachers and advisors. Open to all faculty and staff via Zoom (link provided on the invitation flyer). Pre-registration is not required.

8:30 – 10:00 am: Workshop #1 | DEI From the Inside Out

This workshop will invite participants to develop a greater understanding of your own positionality, promote greater self-awareness, and explore how to continuously leverage what you’ve learned to positively impact your professional activity.

10:15 – 11:45 am: Workshop #2 | DEI Next Steps: Making a Difference for Your Students

With a new level of self-understanding, we will explore specific actions faculty can take to promote DEI in their work with students inside and outside of the classroom.
