SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University associate professor of business Jeananne Nicholls has been named vice president of collegiate relations of the Pittsburgh chapter of the American Marketing Association.

According to the AMA's mission statement, the organization "strives to be the most relevant force and voice shaping marketing around the world. It offers unique access to career opportunities as well as possibilities for professional development, networking, volunteer work and educational seminars."

As the vice president of collegiate relations for the Pittsburgh chapter, Nicholls will be working with marketing professionals and regional collegiate faculty to develop projects that will allow college students to apply their classroom knowledge.

"I am so excited about this role and look forward to creating opportunities for students to work with marketing professionals and local Pittsburgh companies," said Nicholls. "Together, we can develop new programs for students to apply their marketing knowledge, skills and abilities and to network with professionals from diverse industries."

Nicholls, who has served as the adviser for SRU's student chapter of the AMA since 2012, increased the club's membership by 200 percent and led the team to five awards at the 2017 AMA International Collegiate Conference, including ones for the chapter's communication plan; an eBay marketing case study; and a Mary Kay social media promotional plan.

Nicholls was previously named the AMA Pittsburgh 2016 Distinguished Educator of the Year. She earned a bachelor's degree from Carlow University, a master's degree from Duquesne University and a doctoral degree from Kennesaw State University in Georgia.
