Lawrence named North Carolina Outstanding Educator

Erin Lawrence, a 2010 Slippery Rock University graduate with a master's degree in education, has received the 2017 Outstanding Educator Award from the North Carolina Science, Mathematics and Technology Education Center.

The award recognizes outstanding contributions by an educator in advancing STEM education in North Carolina.

Lawrence, a teacher at Apex Friendship School, in Wake County, utilizes project-based learning approaches that feature interdisciplinary units combining language arts, math, science and technology. She also integrates authentic use of technology in her classroom for research and collaboration.
