What is the PASSHE Conference on Teaching and Learning?
The 2023 PASSHE Conference on Teaching and Learning is designed specifically for faculty to
help foster the continued development of teaching and learning pedagogies in all forms and is
hosted by SRU’s Center for Teaching and Learning. The conference aim is to deliver the latest on
the theory, practice, and scholarship of teaching and learning.
When will the 2023 PASSHE Conference on Teaching and Learning be held?
The conference will be held Tuesday, January 10 and Wednesday, January 11. Concurrent sessions
will begin at 9:00 AM and continue throughout the day.
Will the Conference sessions be live?
Yes, there will be live concurrent sessions throughout each day hosted through the Webex and the
ExOrdo platform. Information on accessing sessions will be sent after registering for the conference.
Do I need to register for the Virtual Conference?
Yes, you do need to register for the conference (there is no registration fee, see below).

What types of sessions and interaction will be part of the conference experience?
The PASSHE Region Virtual Experience will offer content and methods of interaction in a variety of
formats. Specifically, you will have access to:
- Concurrent Live Sessions (45 minutes) on the theory, practice, and scholarship of teaching
and learning;
- Promoting Active Learning - Students’ cognitive investment in, emotional commitment to, and active participation in their coursework profoundly impacts student learning. Proposals in this track may include, but are not limited to: practices that encourage participation, agency, or motivation; collaborative learning practices; instructors as facilitators; community-engaged learning; and classroom application to real-world problems of practice.
- Creating Inclusive and Supportive Learning Environments - Proposals in this track will focus on helping faculty ensure equitable access to learning, embrace diversity in the classroom, and provide useful feedback. Proposals in this track may including, but are not limited to: enabling faculty to create an optimal environment to support learning—including embracing diversity and helping students persist in meeting academic challenges.
- Course Design and Development Track - The purpose of the Design and Development Strand is to focus on the quality and effectiveness of instructional content, including analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Submissions should focus on the instructional design and development of face-to-face, online, and/or blended learning methods.
What is the cost of attendance and participation in the PASSHE Conference?
All sessions will be freely available to faculty from all PASSHE Universities.
Will I be able to interact with session presenters?
Yes, and we encourage an active dialogue in session and with presenters. Presenters are excited to
share their expertise and experience with you. You will be able to connect and network with on-demand
session presenters and workshops.
