Quinn Adams

Quinn AdamsQuinn Adams is a recent graduate of Slippery Rock University with B.S degrees in Exercise Science and Professional Spanish. She is a graduate student at La Roche University in its ELMSN Master of Science in Nursing program. She hopes to use her Spanish to provide better quality care to patients and improve health outcomes. She also plans to work as a travel nurse domestically and internationally. She is proud to be a SRU Professional Spanish alumna. Go Rock!  

Paul Cunningham

Alumni Paul CunninghamPaul Cunningham is the author of Fall Garment (2022) and The House of the Tree of Sores (2020), both published by Schism Press. New poems and translations are forthcoming in Texas Poetry Review and A Flame Called Indiana: New Writing from the Crossroads(Indiana University Press, 2023). His translation of Sara Tuss Efrik’s short story, “A Woman’s World Behind the Lace Curtain,” was published by the Center for the Art of Translation. His short film adaptation of Ursula Andkjær Olsen’s Outgoing Vessel recently premiered in Sophia Kalkau’s “Ung Som Bly” installation at the Rønnebæksholm cultural center in Denmark. He holds a BA in English from Slippery Rock University, an MFA from the University of Notre Dame, and a PhD from the University of Georgia. He currently serves as the Coordinator of the Creative Writing Program at the University Notre Dame where he also co-manages Action Books.

Jordan Gill

Photo of Jordan GillJordan Gill graduated in the fall of 2021 with a Bachelor’s in Cultural Area Studies: Japanese, with minors in Asian Studies and Professional Japanese. As an undergrad, he was able to study abroad in Japan at Saga University for one year, experiencing invaluable cultural exchange in an authentic Japanese language setting. After returning, Jordan began his TESOL studies and worked hands-on with professor Ishimaru as an assistant teacher through several programs at Saga University via zoom. These experiences inspired him to apply for the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) program to teach English abroad after graduation. Jordan currently lives in Saga, Japan, working as an assistant language teacher for elementary and middle school students through the JET program.

Allison Endres

Alumni Allison EndresAllison Endres earned her Master of Arts and Graduate Certificate in TESOL from Slippery Rock University in May 2021. Prior to her graduate study, Allison completed her Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education with a concentration in International Education in the spring of 2020, also from SRU. After obtaining her PA state PK-12 ESL certification from the Allegheny Intermediate Unit, she accepted a position as second grade teacher at Commonwealth Charter Academy, which is a fully virtual public school in Pennsylvania. Allison has worked closely with ESL students and their families, and in her classroom, she showcases a variety of cultural backgrounds to represent diversity and global contexts. Her time in SRU’s Graduate TESOL Program prepared her for building strong relationships with her ESL students and has allowed her English learners to flourish in their academic and communicative success.

Sara Concroy

Alumni Sara CancroySara Cancroy earned her Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of other Languages (TESOL) from Slippery Rock University in December 2019, having previously earned her Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education (BSED), also from SRU. During her MA TESOL curriculum, Sara traveled to Villa de Leyva, Colombia to complete a 4-week field experience with Colegio Nueva Era, a private K-12 school focused on academic excellence, a commitment to the environment, a connection to the community, and values. After graduating with her master’s degree, Sara obtained the Virginia state ESOL licensure and the following school year accepted the lead ESOL teacher position at Spotswood Elementary in Fredericksburg, VA. Sara serves Spotswood’s students and their families by always advocating for her students’ rights and educational opportunities. Sara begins her third year of teaching in 2022 with a caseload of 50-60 English language learners, ages 5-12 years old. In the elementary school setting her primary job is helping the students access grade-level material with pull-out and push-in support instruction. Sara hopes to continue to serve students and families by promoting intercultural competence for many years to come.

Beth Ann Kopay

Alumni Beth Ann KopayBeth Ann Kopay is a 2019 MA TESOL graduate from Slippery Rick University. Before coming to SRU, she earned her bachelor’s in elementary education and a minor in civic and community engagement from The Pennsylvania State University, as well as her ESL teaching certification from Edinboro University of PA. Having just completed a second master’s degree, an M.Ed. in Reading from Edinboro University, Beth is currently a middle school teacher for the Erie Public Schools where she teaches English as a new language in the Newcomer Academy. Beth loves her job and the learner population that she works with. She also loves to travel and has lived abroad, teaching in Utrik, an outer island in the Marshall Islands, as well as in northern Thailand for the Huinamkhunwittaya School. She has also worked with immigrant populations in the Erie area and enjoys adult English language teaching. She hopes to obtain her doctorate in second language acquisition and literacy.

Alumni Mallory AngelluciMallory Angelluci

Mallory Angelucci graduated in 2020 with her Bachelor’s in English: Language and Literature with a Writing minor, and then again in 2021 from the English MA program following the completion of her Master’s consultancy which focused on ESL and ELL students at SRU’s Writing Center. Mallory currently works as a Technical Writer and Editor at the Naval Nuclear Laboratory where she is among a team of other technical writers who construct and edit equipment manuals that are utilized by the US Department of Energy and US Navy.

Christian SkinnerChristian Skinner Photo

Christian Skinner graduated in 2020 with a B.S. in English with a concentration in Professional Writing. He currently works as Marketing Editor for a specialty clinic that treats individuals with ADD/ADHD. As part of a small, close-knit team of multidisciplinary professionals, he writes, edits, proofreads, and designs a variety of technical, informational, and marketing materials for print and web. He has helped design a strategic marketing plan for a digital software as a medical device, built and refined two websites with his coworkers, created style guides, designed logos, and authored instructional materials for patients and for other employees. Thanks in part to his enriching experience with SLAB, he has also been able to take the lead on typesetting and printing a book, with plans to support the publishing of new editions of several other titles and unreleased manuscripts in the near future.

Madeline Murphy

Madeline Murphy graduated in spring 2021 with a B.S. in Secondary French Education. During her time at SRU, she played for the University field hockey team. Currently, she is a middle and high school French teacher at Wilmington Area School District and is the faculty advisor of the French Club, as well. Her role includes helping organize various cultural activities and offer more programming. She plays an active role in her community, where, in spring 2022, she participated in an after-school program at the elementary school at Wilmington and taught students aged between K and 4th grade about French language and culture twice a week with the assistance of students from the French Club. She is now enrolled as a graduate student in SRU’s Clinical and Mental Health Counseling program beginning in fall 2022.

Cam Cavaliere

Photo of Cam CavaliereCam Cavaliere graduated from SRU in 2020 with a B.S. English: Professional Writing. She went on to obtain her M.A. in Rhetoric and Composition at Auburn University, graduating in May of 2022 after the successful defense of her portfolio, “Circulation, Communities, and Constructs that Promote Harassment”. Her current research involves thinking about the ways that Writing Studies, and academia in general, can improve practices regarding student data privacy and data collection. Cam is currently an incoming Ph.D. student in Miami University of Ohio's English Department and hopes to work as a writing center administrator after obtaining her doctoral degree.

Ann Hergenrother

Photo of Ann HergenrotherAnn Hergenrother earned her M.A. in TESOL from SRU in May 2022.  Her previous degrees include a B.A. in anthropology from Beloit College and a M.Ed. from Tulane University.  Semi-retired from independent school teaching and administration, Ann currently teaches adult ESL classes for Butler County Community College. Ann has found her TESOL classes and English language teaching invaluable in helping shape a better understanding of how people learn a second language. She loves her part-time work and is pleased to continue to contribute to the field of education.

Souad Richani

Born to Lebanese parents and having grown up in Venezuela, Souad Richani is a Spring 2022 graduate with an M.A. in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from Slippery Rock University. Souad earned her B.S. in Marketing from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1989. A native Spanish speaker, she is also proficient in Lebanese Arabic and English. She previously taught Spanish to young learners for the Seneca Valley School District. Since 2020, Souad has taught English as a second language to adults at Butler County Community College, also serving as a Cooperating ESL Teacher for other TESOL candidates completing their field experiences. She enjoys her time as both an ESL Instructor and mentor to all these inspiring students. A proud Mom of four, Souad is currently pursuing full-time employment opportunities in the greater Pittsburgh area where she can utilize her marketing, multilingual, pedagogical, and instructional coaching skill set.

LaMorie MarshLaMorie Marsh

LaMorie Marsh graduated in December of 2017 with a degree in English Creative Writing with minors in film and media studies and gender studies. He is currently an Operational Support Specialist for Amare Medical Network growing his career in operations for the medical field.

Kaisha Jantsch

Kaisha Jantsch

Kaisha Jantsch currently serves as the Internal Communications Manager at Washington & Jefferson College. In her role, she writes and edits College publications, creates content for the College inter- and intra- net sites, develops communication campaigns and strategies, and liaises with students, faculty, and staff. Before transitioning to higher education, she maintained a career in print and broadcast journalism, previously working as a health and education reporter at The Beaver County Times and Ellwood City Ledger, a features writer at The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, and a news reporter and featured talk show host at 1230 WBVP & 1460 WMBA Radio. Kaisha is a member of the Education Writers Association (EWA) and Phi Kappa Phi (PKP). She holds a B.S. in English: Creative Writing and a Certificate in Book Arts from Slippery Rock University, and an M.A. in Media Communications from Point Park University.

Megan Thomas

Megan Thomas is a 2020 graduate of SRU’s B.S. in English: Professional Writing program. She is entering her third year of law school at Penn State University. Megan participates as an Articles Editor for the Penn State Law Review. Her student comment discussing the Fourth Amendment’s application to the public-school context is slated for publication in the Law Review’s upcoming volume. In Fall 2021, Megan completed an externship with the Honorable Judge Kim R. Gibson in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and in Fall 2022 she will extern for the Honorable Judge D. Brooks Smith in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. After law school, Megan hopes to serve as a federal judicial clerk before entering private practice.  

Jenna Moses

Jenna Moses graduated in 2020 with a B.S. in English, dual concentration in Professional Writing and Creative Writing and a minor in Professional Spanish. She currently works as an Intermediate Technical Writer at UPMC Health Plan. She is a member of the Application Services department, which creates software applications that are used within the hospitals and/or on the insurance side of UPMC. As a technical writer in the department, Jenna writes and manages the user documentation for multiple development teams that build and release different areas of the software applications. In addition to her time as a technical writer, she has had the opportunity to cross train with other roles in the department, specifically with Quality Assurance, and has recently joined UPMC's Women In Technology group.
