Undergraduate Research in STEM

At Slippery Rock University, you have the opportunity to collaborate with faculty members on research projects and present your findings at regional and national conferences, as early as your first year. Why do undergraduate research? You can:

Grants and Sponsored Research

Grants, Research, and Sponsored Programs (GRASP) is designed to provide general university policies, procedures, and guidelines related to the application and administration of grants, contracts, and other sponsored activities. The available resources will serve as a guide to faculty, staff, and other grant seekers in the preparation and submission of grant and contract proposals.

Center for Student Research

The Center for Student Research (CSR) is the place to go for information about student research, scholarship and creative activity at Slippery Rock University. At the Center for Student Research we aim to encourage, and to celebrate the experience of research, scholarship and creative activity, not just in the sciences, but in education, the social sciences, humanities, fine and performing arts. We recognize also entrepreneurial, civic and co-curricular activities and projects that provide the student with unique learning opportunities that enrich the university experience.

Institutional Review Board (IRB)

The Institutional Review Board (IRB) is responsible for the protection of human participants in research conducted by faculty, staff and students. All members of the SRU community who engage in activities that are classified as research involving human participants must submit their research proposals to the IRB for review and approval prior to the beginning the research. The IRB assures compliance with Federal and state regulations and SRU policies.

Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC)

The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) is responsible for ensuring compliance with Federal regulations concerning the use and welfare of animals, including housing and care, in research and teaching. The committee meets as needed to review research proposals including animals and policy changes.
