Networking

Today, you are either networking, or not working.  Some say that "networking" is an overused term.  Perhaps, but it is also an under-developed and terribly under-utilized skill as well.  We know from job statistics that most jobs today (about 70%) are secured through a person's network.  It is believed that this percentage will rise to nearly 80% in the coming years.  It is not prudent to rely upon newspaper listings and job search engines when commencing a job search.  Instead, it is important to use all four years in undergraduate studies and the rest of your professional career to build and maintain a network of people with hiring influence.
