SRU names Wilson associate provost for transformational experiences

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Brad Wilson, Slippery Rock University's interim associate provost for transformational experiences, has been named to the permanent position effective Jan. 10, 2017. He had served in the interim role for the past two years.
Wilson's areas of oversight include: career education and development; the Center for Service, Involvement and Leadership; distinguished scholarships and fellowships; undergraduate research; the Honors Program; and Bailey Library. He will also continue in his role as interim director for global engagement.
"I am very excited to be continuing in the position of associate provost," said Wilson. "For the past two years, I have had the opportunity to work with students and staff in many areas to implement the visions of the president and provost of an integrated academic and student affairs division.
"We have been able to make a lot of progress in offering students a holistic educational experience. We are developing new leadership and service learning programs; our ongoing renovations have made Bailey Library a more comfortable and accessible space for student learning; our career education and development staff are meeting with record numbers of students; the Honors Program is growing; and SRU is developing into a more global campus environment.
"I think that we are moving in a really good direction for our students, who are engaging in more high-impact practices than ever. I'm looking forward to continuing the work we have begun."
Wilson came to SRU in 1997, spending more than 19 years as a professor of philosophy. He has also served as the chair of the philosophy department and director of the Honors Program.
He earned his bachelor's degree in philosophy from Purdue University and his master's and doctoral degrees in philosophy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Prior to his arrival at SRU, Wilson worked at the University of Pittsburgh, North Carolina State University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
