Rapper Lil Wayne to perform at SRU April 10

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Grammy-award winning rapper Lil Wayne will perform April 10 in Slippery Rock University's Aebersold Student Recreation Center. The concert was booked by SRU's University Program Board.

Wayne's debut solo album, "Tha Block Is Hot" was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America in 1999. His subsequent albums, "Lights Out" (2000) and "500 Degreez" (2002), went on to be certified gold. Wayne's popularity reached a new high with his fourth album "Tha Carter" (2004), which produced the hit single, "Go D.J." His sixth album, 2008's "Tha Carter III," became his most successful album to date with first-week sales of more than one million copies. The album earned a Grammy for "Best Rap Album" and included a trio of hit singles in "Lollipop," "A Milli" and "Got Money."

Wayne has sold more than 100 million records worldwide, including more than 15 million albums and 37 million digital tracks in the U.S.

Tickets, $40 for SRU students, are limited to two tickets per valid SRU ID and will be available at the Smith Student Center information desk at 8 a.m., Feb. 7. Tickets for the general public, if available, will be $65 and will be released for sale at 8 a.m., Feb. 21.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. the night of the show with the concert beginning at 7:30 p.m.
