SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University Potter's Guild will host its third annual ceramic mug sale from 12:30-1:30 p.m., Feb. 23 and 25 in the lobby of the Smith Student Center.

Guild members, all of whom are SRU students, handcrafted all the mugs that will be available for purchase.

Proceeds from sales of the mugs, priced at $10 each, will assist the club in promoting the ceramic arts at SRU, including workshops featuring local and international guest artists, and weekly open studio workshops where SRU students, faculty and staff can learn the basics of working with clay.

The Potter's Guild also has a hand in the annual Empty Bowls hunger awareness program in which participants select a homemade bowl, crafted by SRU students, for $5. In return, they receive a meager lunch of soup and bread and then get to take home the bowl they purchased. Proceeds from that event benefit local hunger-fighting organizations and help provide Thanksgiving dinner for an estimated 150 local families.
