SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University's Gender Studies Program will sponsor a "Masculinity and Mass Shooters" presentation and question and answer session at 7 p.m., March 23, in the Smith Student Center Theater.

Cindy LaCom, professor of English and gender studies director, and Natalie Drozda, a graduate student in clinical mental health counseling and gender studies graduate assistant from Renfrew, will lead the program.

LaCom said gender studies organized the program to discuss FBI statistics that show a mass shooting, with three or more killed or wondered, occurs daily in the U.S. She said the report indicates that 98 percent of shooters are men, and 10 percent of the country's mass shootings take place at schools.

SRU's department of criminology and criminal justice will co-sponsor the program.
