SRU online master of education degree named among nation’s best

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University's online master's degree in elementary education: K-12 reading has been named one of the 50 best programs in the country by OnlineMasters.com.

OnlineMasters.com is an "online resource for unbiased college rankings and higher education planning."

The list was compiled by OnlineMasters.com staff utilizing exclusive data and insights gained from industry professionals through interviews and surveys completed by current students and alumni. Data from the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System and the National Center for Education Statistics were used to compile the rankings.

Programs included in the list were selected based on curriculum quality, program flexibility, affordability and graduate outcomes. Only programs from accredited nonprofit institutions were eligible.

SRU and Edinboro University were the only institutions from Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education included on the list.

SRU's master of education in elementary education: K-12 reading program prepares students to pursue careers as reading teachers, diagnostic remedial specialists, consultants, resource specialists and much more through a flexible, online curriculum consisting of small class sizes and taught by experienced faculty with doctoral degrees who are experts in their fields.

All candidates completing SRU's program are eligible to receive Pennsylvania Reading Specialist Certification after achieving a passing score on the Praxis II test in reading.
