SRU Honor Society to host GRE workshop

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Phi Kappa Phi, the Honor Society at Slippery Rock University, in partnership with The Princeton Review, will provide a free Graduate Record Examination strategy session at 4:30 p.m., April 5 in Room 321 of the Smith Student Center for all SRU students or staff planning to apply for graduate school.

The GRE is a standardized admissions test that is required by most graduate schools. The exam aims to measure verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, analytical writing and critical thinking skills that have been acquired over a long period of time and that are not related to any specific field of study.

An instructor from the Princeton Review will provide information on the types of questions posed by the GRE, as well as share some proven strategies to use on test day..

Founded in 1897 at the University of Maine and headquartered in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Phi Kappa Phi has chapters at more than 300 college and university campuses in North America and the Philippines. Its mission is "to recognize and promote academic excellence in all fields of higher education and to engage the community of scholars in service to others."

The SRU Phi Kappa Phi chapter was created by the national honor society in 2004

Membership in Phi Kappa Phi is not required to attend the workshop. Register at the Center for Student Involvement and Leadership in Room 234 of the Smith Student Center.
