SRU’s music therapy program ranked one of country’s most affordable

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — Slippery Rock University's music therapy program has been ranked as one of the 25 most affordable in the country by bestcounselingdegrees.net.

SRU ranked No. 6 and was the only institution from Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education to make the list.

Bestcounselingdegrees.net is a "premier online resource for exploring and picking from the nation's best counseling degree programs in order to develop the knowledge and skills needed to further your career," according to the website.

The rankings were compiled by bestcounselingdegrees.net staff who looked at colleges and universities offering counseling programs across the country. Institutions were ranked on program curriculum, areas of concentration, accreditation and affordability, and online and on-campus class availability.

SRU's music therapy program helps students develop the required musicianship and clinical skills to provide therapeutic support to people of all ages with a wide range of physical, intellectual, emotional, behavioral, developmental, sensory and social needs. Students develop the required competencies to work in special education, nursing homes, psychiatric treatment centers, correctional facilities, rehabilitation centers, day programs and private practice.
