Barrage Eight musical group

April 14, 2016

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Barrage8, a modern string octet that blends eclectic violin music with high-energy physical choreography, will bring its one-of-a-kind stage performance to Slippery Rock University for a 7:30 p.m., April 28 performance at the University Union.

Barrage8 is the latest project from John Crozman, Dean Marshall and Tony Moore, the creators of the original Barrage, which, between 1996 and 2012, performed more than 3,000 shows in 27 countries.

Utilizing the same energy, panache and innovative stage performance that Barrage was known for, Barrage8 features all the instruments in the modern string family. The "8" in the group's name represents a reimagining of the string octet: five violins, viola, cello and double bass. This instrumentation drives a rich and powerful sonic palette that further explores the musical diversity in the Barrage8 compositions and arrangements.

Barrage8 musicians include: Charlotte Crosmer on violin; Eve Panning on violin; Kyle Pudenz on violin, guitar and mandolin; Davis West on violin and piano; Caitlin Whitehouse on violin; Kathryn Severing on viola; Trace Johnson on cello; and Heran Yang on bass with Kayleigh Moyer on drums/percussion.

Tickets are $22 for adults, $20 for seniors (62 or older), $18 for youth (17 and younger) and $8 for SRU students. To purchase tickets, call 724.738.2018 or go online: http://www.sru.edu/life-at-sru/arts-and-culture/performing-arts-series.
