SRU offers May 4 Global Graduation Ceremony

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University's Office of Global Engagement will offer its first Global Graduation Ceremony for international students and American students who studied abroad at 6 p.m., May 4, at the Smith Student Center Ballroom.

The ceremony will recognize 12 international students who are graduating, 18 international exchange students who will be returning home and 13 American students who participated in a long-term student abroad program.

Graduating seniors will receive stoles. Other students will receive pins representing their home countries and the U.S., said Noora Alie, international student adviser for the Office of Global Engagement.

She said the graduation ceremony was created to honor students and promote internationalism at SRU. SRU currently enrolls 111 international students from more than 20 countries.

A reception and international art display will follow the ceremony.
