SRU student-athletes receive PSAC scholar-athlete honors

   A total of 205 Slippery Rock student-athletes were recognized as Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference scholar-athletes for maintaining a grade point average greater than 3.25 during the 2016-17 academic year.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - A total of 205 Slippery Rock University student-athletes have been recognized as Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference scholar-athletes for maintaining a grade point average greater than 3.25 during the 2016-17 academic year.

The SRU contingent was comprised of 140 females and 65 males. The Rock's total number of scholar-athletes ranked fifth among the 18 PSAC institutions and third among the 14 State System schools.

The 205 PSAC scholar-athletes represent a 13.3 percent increase for SRU from the 2015-16 academic year.

Of SRU's 205 student-athletes, 21 earned a perfect 4.0 GPA.

The conference as a whole set a new record with a total of 2,901 student-athletes from the 18 members schools which is 41 percent of all student-athletes in the league. The total also marks the ninth consecutive year that more than 30 percent of the total student-athlete population of the league has earned the honor.
