SRU earns a top ranking among nation’s criminology degree programs

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University's bachelor's degree in criminology and criminal justice has been ranked in the top 35 criminology degrees in the nation by College Choice.

Using information collected from the ranked institutions, PayScale, U.S. News & World Report and The National Center for Education Statistics, College Choice examined all programs across the U.S. offering criminology degrees and tallied scores, up to 100, based on the following criteria:

• Program reputation.
• Retention rate and student satisfaction.
• Tuition rates and graduate salaries.

SRU ranked 33rd on the list with a score of 61.89.

According to College Choice, a degree in criminology can "set graduates up for many career opportunities in a range of settings and industries, whether with a small, local police agency or the Federal Bureau of Investigation."

Those opportunities include, but are not limited to, careers in:

• Law enforcement.
• Probation and parole.
• Court administration.
• Treatment specialization.
• Criminal justice system.
