The new map offers a visual representation of the campus that is more interactive than the previous version, featuring 360-degree images, embedded drone video and syncing with Google maps to link to turn-by-turn directions.

"SRU is committed to offering a map that is not only functional for visitors but also showcases our beautiful campus," said Chase Wickerham, SRU assistant director of web communication and development, who led the nearly two-month long project. "Keeping a project like this in-house versus using an outside vendor allows us to more easily make enhancements and take advantage of our digital assets, including our expanding library of drone footage."

The new map uses scalable vector graphics that are more compatible for mobile devices and supported by most internet browsers.

"Many of our users enter the University's site via mobile applications," Wickerham said. "The previous version used Adobe Flash, a propriety format that is not supported by all devices and browsers."

The map design also meets Americans with Disabilities Act requirements.

"It was very important to bring our map into compliance," Wickerham said.

Printable versions of the map are available to download as well.
