SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - If you're a fan of big-budget Hollywood blockbusters, you don't have to trek to Butler or Grove City to fill your cinematic fix. Thanks to the Slippery Rock Student Government Association Movie Series all you need to do is make your way to the Smith Student Center Theatre.

Now in its sixth year, the series features movies that have just completed their theatrical runs. Movies are shown in the SSCT every Friday-Sunday - with minimal exceptions - during the fall and winter semesters and are open to everyone; students, faculty, staff and community members.

Showtimes are 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Fridays and Sundays and 8 p.m. Saturdays. Admission is free for all showings. All 8 p.m. shows also feature free popcorn for all attendees.

"The series really stemmed from so many students feeling that there wasn't enough going on over the weekends to keep them entertained," said Dallas Kline, a junior sports management major from Spring Grove and SRSGA vice president of campus outreach. "It's about bringing everyone together."

Already this semester, the series has featured "Beauty and the Beast," "Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2," "Fate of the Furious," "Wonder Woman," "Spider-Man: Homecoming" and "The Hitman's Bodyguard."

The remaining films on the fall schedule include:

-"Annabelle: Creation," Oct. 27-29.
-"Transformers: The Last Knight," Nov. 3-5.
-"Dunkirk," Nov. 10-12.
-"Baywatch," Nov. 17-19.
-"It," Dec. 1-3.
-"Girls Trip," Dec. 8-10.

No movies will be shown the week of Nov. 19.

"We at SGA want to be an important member of the Slippery Rock community beyond what we do with and for the University," Kline said. "This is just one way we can make a contribution."
