SRU to host national security expert Nov. 1

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Dan Rattner, a former security manager for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, will share his insights into national security and talk about job opportunities in the field as part of Slippery Rock University's criminology and security studies speaker series at 12:30 p.m., Nov. 1, at the Russell Wright Alumni House.

Rattner, who has more than 40 years working in the field, will discuss corporate and homeland security and how the two must work together to accomplish the macro and micro security goals of the U.S., according to Susan Lubinski, SRU associate professor of criminology and criminal justice.

Rattner is currently director of safety, risk and security at Iron Mountain Secure Shredding Services in Boyers.

He is the former public safety adviser to the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety, where he coordinated intelligence-led policing.

Rattner formerly taught criminal justice at Northeastern University.
