Slippery Rock University celebrated Veterans Day, Nov. 10, with a breakfast at the Smith Student Center and ceremony at the Alumni House. Capt. Andrew Bolla, a 2011 SRU graduate and an active member of the U.S. Marine Corps, provided the keynote address at the ceremony, which also included remarks from SRU Interim President Philip Way. The event also featured a 21-gun salute, the laying of a wreath, the playing of taps and songs by the SRU Chamber Singers. Mike Ditto, a senior philanthropy and nonprofit management major from Gibsonia who served 12 years in the U.S. Marines, was presented with a service dog, Justice, made possible by a fundraising project through the SRU chapter of the Student Veterans of America with partners Dogs 4 Warrior and the American Warrior Initiative.
