SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Stuffed animals, action figures and board games are just a few of many items Slippery Rock University students, faculty and staff can use to assist SRU's University Program Board in its annual "Seasons of Giving" event Dec. 8 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Smith Student Center.

The event, which supports the U.S. Marines annual Toys for Tots campaign, will benefit Butler County children this holiday season. Donated toys, for boys and girls to age 12, should be new and unwrapped.

In addition to collection bins located inside the Smith Student Center, UPB will be will try to stuff the SGA Bookstore van full of donations from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The van will be parked outside the Bookstore on the Smith Center patio.

Other activities at the event will include: holiday-themed novelties; a synthetic ice-skating rink; winter-themed jewelry making; photo snow globes; Project Christmas Elf drop off; and hot chocolate and cookie decorating. All activities, which will be free of charge, will be staged in the Student Center Ballroom.

"The overall goal of the event is to host a holiday get-together for our students, faculty and staff as the semester comes to a close, while collecting as many toys as possible from our SRU community to donate to Butler County Toys for Tots," said Samantha Anderson, a business marketing major from Beaver and director of community service for UPB.

"We hope everyone will help us reach our goal of filling the van and making it a special holiday season for many children in our area."
