SRU Trustees to meet Dec. 8-9

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University's council of trustees will meet Dec. 8-9. Committee meetings will be in Room 320 of the Smith Student Center. The quarterly business meeting will take place at 1 p.m., Dec. 9 in Room 321 of the Smith Student Center. All meetings are open to students, faculty, staff and community members who would like to attend.

Agenda items for the Dec. 8 committee meetings include reports from the Academic and Student Affairs Committee, the Finance Committee and the University Advancement Committee.

The Finance Committee will meet at 1:30 p.m. to present reviews of the University's financial statements and audit overview; final designs regarding the University's performing arts construction projects; and of the financial impact of the new collective bargaining agreement with APSCUF. Additional action items include: a review of current contracts, fixed assets and service and supply purchase orders; a quarterly financial report; a review of the facilities and planning project list; and review of personnel appointments, which includes instructional, tactical leadership, operational leadership, grant-funded, non-faculty and support staff.

The Academic and Student Affairs Committee will meet at 2:30 p.m. to hear from Philip Way, provost, regarding the performance of SRU's newest academic programs, performance funding and a review of the University by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. David Wilmes, associate provost for student success, will discuss revisions to the University's Student Code of Conduct and the organizational restructuring of the student success office.

The University Advancement Committee will meet at 3:30 p.m. to provide an update on recent development and fundraising activities from the Slippery Rock Foundation, Inc.

The Governance Committee will meet at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 9. Business to be discussed will include: a review of the Oct. 7 PACT workshop invoice; the March 2017 president's evaluation; the welcome of new trustees, Butch Angelucci and Richard Wukich; committee assignments; discussion on the Oct. 22 visit to SRU by the Edinboro trustees; and COT representation on the Slippery Rock Student Government Association board.

The Council's quarterly business meeting at 1 p.m. will call for action to be taken on the approval of the meeting agenda and minutes from the Sept. 22-23 COT meetings; a review of committee reports and of those items forwarded by the committees and a presentation by Jeremy Lynch, associate professor of special education, on the College of Education's "Professor Protégé" program.
