SRU contingent presents at EERA Conference

Five people from Slippery Rock University presented at the Eastern Education Research Association Conference, Feb. 7-10 in Clearwater, Florida.

Sara Tours, assistant professor of elementary education and early childhood, conducted a roundtable presentation and two paper presentations, including "The Importance of Kindergarten Teachers' Beliefs and Practices on Developmentally Appropriate Practices."

Michelle Amodei, assistant professor of elementary education and early childhood, and Jessica Jordan, instructor of library collection management, joined Tours for the roundtable, "Motivational Factors of Pre-Service Teacher's Choice of Major," and the paper, "Motivations of Pre-Service Teachers to Choose an Education Major."

Additionally, Tours guided two SRU students whose papers were also accepted at the conference: Hannah Wise, a 2017 graduate with a degree in early childhood education/special education, for her paper, "Aiding First Grade Students Comprehension with the Use of Individualized Word Walls;" and Shelby Ryan, a 2017 graduate with a degree in early childhood/special education, for her paper, "Picture Drawing in 4th Grade to Produce Details in Writing Personal Narratives."

The EERA is an organization for educational professionals interested in conducting and disseminating research that improves education for all in both formal and non-formal settings.
