A group from Slippery Rock University served as judges for the SkillsUSA District 10 Competition at the Lawrence County Career and Technical Center in New Castle.

Pierre Bowins, assistant professor of art; June Edwards, professor emerita of art; and Myah Merhaut, a senior art major from Gibsonia, judged the Advertising Art category. The contestants, SkillsUSA members enrolled in programs with advertising design or commercial art as their occupational objective, were judged on their ability to design an advertisement and redesign an existing ad in an allotted time.

SkillsUSA is a national student organization that develops employability, participatory and leadership skills to complement the occupational skills developed by students in technical-education classrooms or work-based learning sites.
