Pam Best, a 1980 Slippery Rock University graduate with a degree in physical education, received the 2019 American Heart Association Faye Biles Education Award.

Best, who recently retired as a health and physical education teacher in the Mars School District, received the award for her work as a Jump Rope For Heart coordinator and implementing school-related AHA programs. During her 29-year career, Best helped raise more than $331,000 in donations to benefit the AHA through Mars Elementary School's Jump Rope For Heart program.

She continues to serve as the school's Jump Rope For Heart coordinator after retiring from teaching last June.
