Nico Russo, a Slippery Rock University senior environmental geoscience major from Sarver, was selected to present his research at the annual Student Night co-sponsored by the Pittsburgh Geological Society; the American Society of Civil Engineers, Geotechnical Division; and the Association of Environmental and Engineering Geologists, April 17, in Carnegie.

Russo, who was one of three students selected to deliver an oral presentation at the event, received a cash prize for his submission titled "Hydrogeology of Slippery Rock University." In his research, Russo provided an assessment of the rock and groundwater setting beneath campus, which is comprised of sandstone aquifer. Russo collected data from production wells, irrigation wells and wells installed for a hydrogeological laboratory around campus.
