SRU dance majors perform at MGDC showcase

Twenty-three Slippery Rock University students recently participated in the Martha Graham Dance Company's University Partnerships Showcase at the Joyce Theater in New York City.

Twelve SRU students opened the show, performing Graham's 1934 piece "Celebration." Jesse Factor, instructor of dance, and Lindsay Viatori, assistant professor of dance, received a Faculty-Student Research Grant from SRU to facilitate the trip, which included students taking classes at the Martha Graham Dance Center and meeting with members of the dance company, the oldest in the country, now in its 93rd season.

  • Taylor Andrekanic, a sophomore dual major in dance and communication studies from White Oak.
  • Olivia Barner, a sophomore dual major in dance and exercise science from Hermitage.
  • Jean Carrio-Mendez, a senior dance major from Arlington, Texas.
  • Samuel Elizondo, a senior dance major from Watertown, New York.
  • Jenée Ewing, a junior dual major in dance and communication from McKeesport.
  • Kari Hoglund, a sophomore dance major from Wilmette, Illinois.
  • Victoria Homschek, a senior dual major in dance and theatre from Aliquippa.
  • Molly Huey, a senior dual major in dance and communication from Warren.
  • Kaitlin Kulasa, a senior dance major from Belle Vernon.
  • Faythe Lewis, a freshman dual major in dance and recreational therapy from Tipton.
  • Lauren McBarron, a junior dance major from Harrison City.
  • Madeline McKissick, a senior dual major in dance and English writing from Johnstown.
  • Alyssa Orrico, a senior dual major in dance and exercise science from Buffalo, New York.
  • Caroline Ready, a senior dance major from Allison Park.
  • Kelvin Rodriguez, a freshman dance major from Lancaster.
  • Olivia Shirley, a freshman dual major in dance and psychology from New Kensington.
  • Skylar Smith, a freshman dance major from Walworth, New York.
  • Victoria Stachelrodt, a senior dual major in dance and marketing from Franklin.
  • Nechelle Trawick, a junior dual major in dance and health science-public health from Philadelphia.
