Anne Slanina, a Slippery Rock University associate professor of elementary education and early childhood education, released her latest children's book, "Annie Mouse's Second Route 66 Photo Journal: The Journey East," the eighth book in her "Adventures of Annie Mouse" series.

Supported by Slanina's photography and three years of travel and research, the book is written from the perspective of a child taking a family vacation/road trip along Route 66. The protagonist, Annie Mouse, visits historic sites and attractions along each of the eight states that Route 66 traverses, traveling east from the Santa Monica Pier to Chicago.

Slanina first presented the book at the Texas Welcomes the World Route 66 Festival in Shamrock, Texas, in July. She will next present at the Route 66 Miles of Possibility Conference, Oct. 25-28 in Carlinville, Illinois.
