SRU students, faculty attend Global Security Exchange

Students and faculty from Slippery Rock University's Homeland and Corporate Security Studies Department recently attended the Global Security Exchange in Chicago.

Susan Lubinski, associate professor and department chair, and Brian Wisneski, a part-time instructor and director of global security of Pfizer Inc., led a group of 11 students to GSX, which is a conference hosted by ASIS International, a professional organization for security professionals that issues various certifications and standards for the security profession.

GSX is attended by thousands of cyber, operational and physical security professionals from across the private and public sectors, as well as college students and professionals from allied organizations and partners. The students viewed the latest in security facial recognition technology, biometrics systems, intelligence software and other security software and products.

SRU students who attended the conference were:

  • Michaela Beattie, a junior corporate security major from New Kensington.
  • Janell Burkett, a senior homeland security major from Punxsutawney.
  • Tyler George, a senior dual homeland security and corporate security major from Pulaski.
  • Alyssa Logan, a senior dual homeland security and corporate security major from Cabot.
  • Alec Morris, a junior homeland security major from Rome.
  • Edward Quinones, a junior homeland security major from Easton.
  • Julie Smith, a junior dual homeland security and corporate security major from Muncy.
  • Andrew Williams, a senior homeland security major from Erie.
  • Caleb Woyt, a senior dual homeland security and corporate security major from Delmont.
  • Antoinette Zappia, a senior corporate security major from Freedom.
