Slippery Rock University's intercollegiate ethics bowl team placed seventh out of 18 teams at the 2019 Regional Ethics Bowl at Marian University in Indianapolis, Indiana.

This was SRU's highest placement in five years of competing at the event, which is sponsored by the Association for Practical and Professional Ethics.

As part of the competition, teams argue and defend their moral assessment of some of the most troubling and complex ethical issues facing society. Teams field questions from cases developed by APPE faculty on topics in business and professional ethics, personal relationships, and social and political affairs.

The SRU team was coached by Tom Sparrow, assistant professor of philosophy, and Andrew Colvin, associate professor of philosophy. Team members included Ashley Bonetti, a senior dual psychology and philosophy major from Slippery Rock; Maggie Calvert, a dual political science and philosophy major from Butler; Connor Griffith, a senior dual philosophy and history major from Cranberry Township; and Aleks White, a senior philosophy major from Grove City.
