The Slippery Rock University chapter of Lambda Pi Eta has been named the National Chapter of the Year by the National Communication Association. The NCA advances communication as the discipline that studies all forms, modes, media and consequences of communication through humanistic, social scientific and aesthetic inquiry.

The award is given to the chapter that best exemplifies Lambda Pi Eta's goals of scholastic achievement and professional development in the field of communication. The SRU chapter received a $200 cash prize and a plaque. Willem van der Wende, a senior communication major from Bozeman, Montana, and Dillon Provenza, a senior communication major from Oakmont, received the award at the NCA's annual convention last month in Salt Lake City, Utah.
