A group of 14 Slippery Rock University students from Barbara Westman's upper-level fiber art class collaborated with experimental art students from Australia's Victoria University to design a colorful group of fall banners that have been installed on the SRU campus. Using social media, email and a VU blog, students from the two universities partnered on the designs with the intent of familiarizing the SRU community with Australia's culture, nature, colors, history and current topics. "This project presents a unique opportunity for the students to create outdoor art," said Westman. "What we see on display is the combination of students' research and creativity. We all learned a lot about Australia through this assignment." The banners are located between North Hall and Bailey Library. They will be in place through October.
