SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University's council of trustees will meet March 17-18. Committee meetings will be in Room 320 of the Smith Student Center both days, while the quarterly business meeting will take place at 1 p.m., March 18 in Room 321. All meetings are open to all students, faculty, staff and community members who would like to attend.

Agenda items for March 17 committee meetings include reports from the Academic and Student Affairs Committee, the Finance Committee and the University Advancement Committee.

The Academic and Student Affairs Committee will present a bachelor of industrial and systems engineering degree program for approval by the Council and subsequent advancement to the State System's board of governors.

The Finance Committee will present a review of the State System's financial risk assessment results; a review of capital budget submissions for fiscal year 2016-17; a review of bond financing issues; the contractually required consumer price index increase (2.56 percent) for student meal plans; a review of current contracts, fixed assets and service and supply purchase orders; a quarterly financial report; a review of the facilities and planning project list; and review of personnel appointments, which includes instructional, tactical leadership, operational leadership, grant-funded, non-faculty and support staff.

The day will conclude with the University Advancement Committee providing details on recent development consultant recommendations; a review of the new financing structure of SRU residence suites; and an update on development and fundraising activities.

The Governance Committee will meet at 10 a.m. March 18 to hear a report from the evaluation committee. The Council's quarterly business meeting at 1 p.m. will call for action to be taken on those items forwarded by the committees; a presentation on the advancements in the programming of NAO humanoid robots by Sam Thangiah, professor of computer science and SRU students Justin Cather of New Sewickley, Zachary Kearney of Pittsburgh and Steve Fulton of Irwin; presentation of a certificate of commendation to SRU's women's indoor track team that captured the 2015-16 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championship; and viewing of an SRU "Connect to Success" student video project by Nikita Falen of Ellwood City.
