SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Over the past decade, comedian Jeff Ross has made a living at the expense of various celebrities. From Charlie Sheen to Justin Bieber to president-elect Donald Trump, no one has been spared from the verbal barbs of "The Roastmaster General" during Ross' run as the host of Comedy Central's Roasts.

Ross will bring his good-natured tongue lashing abilities to Slippery Rock University for a Dec. 6, 8 p.m. performance in the Smith Student Center Ballroom. Ross will deliver an hour-long standup routine as well as call SRU students forward for some friendly "roasting."

The appearance, sponsored by SRU's University Program Board, was booked to offer a "stress-buster" during final exam season, said Ian Banks, a communication major from Johnstown and UPB's director of concerts. Banks will in fact offer himself up for Ross to roast.

"It has been quite some time since we went 'all out' to try and bring a big name comedian to campus for the students to enjoy," Banks said. "We haven't had a comedian with the star power that Jeff Ross carries in quite a few years, so this is a big move for UPB. This type of event is great for us to offer because it allows students to gather together to enjoy a few laughs during a stressful time, with exams coming up the next week."

Ross, a native of Springfield, New Jersey, recently released the highly rated "Jeff Ross Roasts Criminals," which was filmed inside a maximum security prison and "Jeff Ross Roasts Cops," which takes place during ride-alongs with the Boston Police Department.

His latest TV venture is "Jeff Ross Presents Roast Battle," a popular comedy competition show entering its second run on Comedy Central.

Ross also competed in the seventh season of "Dancing with the Stars."

Tickets, $12 for students and $24 for the general public, are available at the Smith Student Center Information Desk, or at http://www.sru.edu/offices/student-center-and-conference-services/tickets.
