Jeffrey Roth, a Slippery Rock University assistant professor of criminology and criminal justice, wrote a paper that was published in Safer Communities, a journal on crime, crime prevention and community safety. Roth’s article, titled “Home sharing, property crime and disorder,” examined the relationship between city-level home sharing, which is a direct exchange between a property owner and a renter whereby the owner allows the renter to stay on their property in exchange for money, and five specific crimes that occur in cities: burglary, larceny, simple assault, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.
