Austin named executive chancellor and vice president of Penn State Commonwealth Campuses

Kelly Austin, a 2001 Slippery Rock University graduate with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in student personnel administration, has been named Penn State University’s permanent vice president for Commonwealth Campuses and executive chancellor. He has been serving in this position in an interim capacity since August 2021.

In his role, Austin oversees Penn State’s 20 Commonwealth Campuses, including programs for associate, baccalaureate and graduate degrees, while providing academic and administrative leadership, as well as strategic and facilities planning.

Austin has been with Penn State since 2012, first as chancellor at Penn State Schuylkill, and later as associate vice president for administration of Commonwealth Campuses in 2017.
