Shane Smith, a Slippery Rock University sophomore cybersecurity major from Pittsburgh, was awarded an Information Security Studies Scholarship by organizers of the Three Rivers Information Security Symposium.

The $1,000 scholarship is awarded to college students from the western Pennsylvania region who are pursuing information security-related degrees and careers. Recipients must meet other qualifying criteria such as a minimum GPA and demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively.

Hosted by several partner organizations in the Pittsburgh area at the Monroeville Convention Center each fall, the TRISS is an annual one-day, multi-track information security symposium for information technology and security professionals.
