Five SRU students recognized at KCACTF

Five Slippery Rock University students were recognized at the Region 2 Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival, Jan. 20, at West Chester University.

Tyler Parsonage, a senior theatre major from Murrysville, won for best sound design for his work on SRU’s production of “Pride and Prejudice,” which was one of five plays selected for the event. Katelyn Loss, a senior acting major from Montoursville, was chosen as a finalist in the Musical Theatre Intensive. Alawna Mallory, a senior acting major from Crafton, and Noah Reed, a senior acting major from Slippery Rock, were finalists for the Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship, and Naomi Costanza, a senior acting major from Cranberry Township, was a semifinalist.

Loss and Mallory also led a workshop at the festival on mental health and wellness in musical theater.

Through the regional and national festivals, KCACTF celebrates the achievements of theater programs, individual students and faculty of colleges and universities throughout the United States.
