Stephen Barr, Slippery Rock University assistant professor of music, is the musical director for the Area Community Theatre of Sharpsville's production of "The Music Man." The show opened last week at the Pierce Opera House in Sharpsville and the final three performances are 7:30 p.m., March 23; 7:30 p.m., March 24; and 2:30 p.m., March 25.

Based on playwright Meredith Willson's popular Broadway musical, "The Music Man" is about salesman Harold Hill's scheme to sell band instruments, uniforms and music lessons to people in River City, Iowa, before skipping town without fulfilling his promises.

ACTS is a nonprofit, community theatre company created in 2011 to advance cultural development and performing arts in the Shenango Valley.

Tickets for "The Music Man" are $20 for adults and $15 for students. They can be ordered online at actsharpsville.org/boxoffice or by calling 724.815.4388.
