SRU Flute Studio members recognized

Four members of the Slippery Rock University Flute Studio ensemble were recently recognized. Kalista Heidkamp, a senior music education major from Pittsburgh, was awarded the Delta Kappa Gamma International Society for Key Women Educators Scholarship. DKG is a professional honor society that promotes the growth of women educators and excellence in education. Heidkamp; Rachael Kovaly, a senior music therapy major from Gibsonia; Samantha Kochis, a senior music education major from Cranberry Township; and Hope Kaufman, a junior music therapy major from Alum Bank; all placed at the Charleston International Winter Music Competition in the Senior Section (ages 19 and older) for flute. Kovaly placed first, Heidkamp and Kochis second, and Kaufman third. Participants competed for cash prizes in the virtual event that showcased musical talent from around the world.
