Four Slippery Rock University athletic training majors were awarded scholarships from three athletic training professional associations.

Martin Doyle, a senior from Slippery Rock; Jamie Muccioli, a senior from Star Junction; and Alec Uttech, a senior from Medina, Ohio, each received 2019 National Athletic Trainers' Association Research and Education Foundation Scholarships. Each year the NATA Foundation Scholarship Program awards $2,300 scholarships to 50-75 students who are NATA members.

Muccioli was also awarded the 2019 Eastern Athletic Trainers' Association Scholarship from the Eastern Athletic Trainers' Association, which awards 11 scholarships, each worth $3,000, to students in entry-level accredited programs who have participated with distinction in a college or university athletic training program.

Koki Kawaguchi, a senior athletic training major from Kawachinagano, Japan, was awarded the 2019 Cecilia Yost Scholarship from the Pennsylvania Athletic Trainers' Society. Kawaguchi is the third SRU student in the last four years to receive the Yost Scholarship, which this year is worth $2,000 and is awarded to "a rising senior who has shown potential for having a unique impact on the profession."
