A nurse educator with 25-years of teaching experience, Dr. Mary Ann Dailey received her diploma in nursing from the Presbyterian-University Hospital School of Nursing, Pittsburgh, PA, her BSN from the Univ. of the State of New York, MSN in Burns, Emergency and Trauma Nursing from Widener University, and PhD in nursing education from Widener University. Additionally, she holds certification as a school nurse.
From 1998 until her retirement from public office in 2004, she served 3-terms as an elected state representative from the 146th Legislative District in Montgomery County, PA. In her capacity as a legislator, she was a board member of the PA State Trauma Systems Foundation and an original board member of the PA Patient Safety Authority. Dr. Dailey was the Founding President of Community Health and Dental Care, Inc., a 501c3 non-profit Federally Qualified Health Center, which provides for the health care needs of the underinsured, uninsured and insured individuals residing in the Greater Pottstown area.
From 2006 through 2012, Dr. Dailey served on the Board of the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association (PSNA), was re-elected to the board in 2013 and is a member of the Boards' Executive Committee. Additionally, she serves as chair of PSNA's Government Relations Committee and is a member of the Awards Committee. She is a member of the Theta Rho Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
Dr. Dailey is a published author in nursing journals, reviews articles for peer-reviewed journals, and has lectured regionally, statewide, nationally, and internationally. Her research interests are in chronic illness, health policy, and historiography. An avid genealogist, she also enjoys landscape photography, traveling, reading and singing. She and her husband are the parents of three adult children.
