The Middle Level Education: Social Studies program will prepare you to teach social studies—as well as English language arts, mathematics, and science—to grades 4-6. You'll also be qualified to teach social studies to students in 7th and 8th grade.

In the SRU Middle Level Education: Social Studies program, you'll take professional education courses such as:

Careers In Middle Level Education: Social Studies

As a graduate of SRU's Middle Level Education: Social Studies program, you'll be qualified to teach social studies to students in grades 4-8 in Pennsylvania and in other states. SRU's Department of Secondary Education also works closely with the Office of Career Education and Development to help you throughout the job search process to secure meaningful employment. Pennsylvania's teacher certification is met by successful completion of the Praxis Exam, a Criminal Background Check, and field and student teaching experiences.
