Commuter Students

Commuter Lounge
Inside the Smith Student Center, there is also a space designed for commuter students to be able to relax, hang out with friends or study. The Commuter Lounge is located on the second floor directly outside The Suite and can be rented out for special events and meetings. Commuter pantries on the second and third floors of the building that are equipped with sinks, fridges, and microwaves to provide commuter students places to prep any food they've brought from home.

Lockers for Commuters
Another great amenity offered for commuter students is the ability to rent lockers within our facility to store any belongings they may not want to carry around with them on campus.

Pregnant/Parenting Students

Lactation Rooms
Available to all students, faculty, and staff who are in need of a private space for lactation or decompression.

  • Campus Success Center - located on the 2nd floor next to Rock Pantry+
  • Smith Student Center – located on the 3rd floor across from the Theatre. This room is also a Wellness Room, equipped with yoga mats, fidget tools, and more.

Case Management
Our Care Case Managers are available to help students navigate pregnancy and parenting while in school. For additional information about resources and supports available to you, connect with one of our Student Support Case Managers.

Childcare Resources
SGA Preschool and Childcare Center - The SRU/SGA Preschool and Child Care Center is a nationally accredited, state licensed, non-profit center which is owned by the Slippery Rock Student Government Association, Inc. As the Center is licensed by the Department of Public Welfare and the Department of Education and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, all staff members are required to meet strict regulations regarding training and experience.

In addition to a professional staff, the Center provides a rich variety of learning experiences for children. The Center's program is designed to promote the affective, cognitive, communicative, perceptual-motor, physical and social development of the child. We seek to provide each child with a safe, secure, happy environment and to provide each parent with the knowledge and security that his/her child is being given excellent care.

Children must be 3 years or older and potty trained to be enrolled.
