Prior to Slippery Rock University's Sept. 30 "Salute to Military and First Responders" football game versus Cal U, the SRU ROTC cadets hosted a display of military equipment in the Mihalik-Thompson Stadium parking lot. Included in the event were an IAV (Interim Armored Vehicle) Stryker, which is an eight-wheeled, armored fighting vehicle and an M777 Howitzer. Many in attendance, including SRU Interim President Philip Way, toured the vehicle and got the lowdown on the gun, which was used by the U.S. Army in Iraq and Afghanistan. In addition, Way visited with the Rock Rowdies during SRU's thrilling 47-44 OT win over the fifth-ranked Vulcans. Photos by Benton Palermo, a senior communication: digital media major from Beaver.
