Slippery Rock University’s College of Education was recently awarded an Innovative Principal Prep2Practice Award from the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Innovative Principal Prep2Practice enables principal preparation programs in the state to experiment with an extended internship/residency component.

SRU received more than $62,000 in grant money to facilitate a planning team of educational practitioners and partners to ensure SRU’s principal preparation program provides an equity-centered, high-quality opportunity for emerging school leaders.

SRU was one of nine grant recipients in the state through this program. Mark Hogue, associate professor of secondary education and foundations of education, wrote the grant on behalf of SRU and is leading the planning team.
