Lauren Moran, Slippery Rock University director of student engagement and leadership, received the Outstanding Dissertation Award from the University of Pittsburgh's School of Education. The award recognizes students in Pitt's Doctor of Philosophy and Doctor of Education programs for their outstanding dissertations that make contributions to the field of education.

Moran received her doctoral degree in education at Pitt in 2019. Her dissertation, "Defining Undergraduate Student Leadership Development Through Practice: A Case Study of a Rural, Mid-sized, Public Institution," explored leadership and how undergraduate leadership education was implemented within curricular and cocurricular contexts.
