Jeffrey Musyt, a Slippery Rock University assistant professor of mathematics and statistics, has been elected program coordinator for the Math Circles for Students and Teachers Special Interest Group of the Mathematical Association of America. Math Circles are a type of outreach in K-12 education that fosters exploration and engagement in math concepts and appreciation outside the predictable curricular requirements.

The MAA, the world's largest community of teachers, students, professionals and enthusiasts in the fields of mathematical sciences, organizes special interest groups, called “SigMAAs,” that focus on particular aspects of undergraduate math instruction.
